Is it safe to clean what CleanDev selects?
Only items that tools recreate on their own are selected for you. Anything in use, anything built today and anything hard to rebuild is kept or left for you to review, with the reason shown next to it.
Why can’t I select some items?
They are in use right now: an app is running from that folder, the simulator is open, or the Unity editor has the project open. Close it and scan again.
Where do removed items go?
Caches and build folders are deleted right away so the space is freed. Old archives go to the Trash, so you can put them back. Simulator content is reset with Apple’s own simctl tool; the simulators stay.
I moved things to the Trash but have no more space.
Space in the Trash is freed when you empty it. The report after a cleanup shows how much is waiting there.
Does CleanDev need Full Disk Access?
No. Without it, macOS asks once for Desktop, Documents and Downloads when the direct-download version scans your projects. CleanDev Lite only sees the folders you choose.
Where is the cleanup log?
After a cleanup, choose Show Cleanup Log. Each cleanup has one file listing what was removed, how, and what was kept and why. Attach it if you write to us.
